Experience the beauty of the Maldives from the skies with our scenic seaplane transfers, the most direct and magical way to reach Joy Island Maldives. Operated by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), the world’s largest seaplane operator, this short and spectacular 10-minute flight from Velana International Airport (Malé) takes you straight to the turquoise lagoon of Joy Island, offering panoramic views of coral islands and shimmering reefs along the way. Seaplane transfers are available daily during daylight hours, ensuring a smooth and comfortable start to your stay in paradise.
Transfer Rates
Return seaplane transfer charges are inclusive of all taxes and service charges:
Adult (16 years and above): USD 300 (return)
Child (2–15 years): USD 180 (return)
Infant (below 2 years): Complimentary, provided no separate seat is occupied
All transfer arrangements are managed by Joy Island. Please ensure that reservations for seaplane transfers are made through the resort at least 7 days prior to arrival.
Luggage Allowance
Checked luggage: 20 kg per person
Hand luggage: 5 kg per person
Additional weight will incur a surcharge of USD 5.00 per kg, as imposed by Trans Maldivian Airways.
Flight Schedule and Important Information
Seaplanes operate only during daylight hours.
Guests arriving in Malé after 15:30 hrs will need to book a speedboat transfer instead.
Departure transfers from Joy Island to Velana International Airport operate between 06:00 hrs and 16:00 hrs, connecting to all international flights departing after 09:00 hrs.
Guests with international flights departing before 09:00 hrs are advised to opt for a speedboat transfer.
Please note: Joy Island and Trans Maldivian Airways shall not be held liable for missed international flights due to delays caused by weather conditions or force majeure. Seaplane rates are subject to change based on fuel surcharge variations by the airline.
